Let the Ride Begin

It is that time of the month again, The time when rumors start to fly, The time when we all get excited because there might just be a speed up this month (or at least we hope there will be). This month is no different the current rumor is that the CCAA will match families with LID's up to Nov. 17th. Last month they matched through nov. 7th that was only 6 days worth of LID's. We are really hoping that the rumor is true, I am the eternal optimist though. I think every month they will match more days then they do. I hope this month I am not wrong and that they make it to at least until the 17th of Nov. If they do in fact match families with Lid's up to Nov. 17th that puts us with 54 LID days in front of us. That does not mean we only have 54 more days to wait. In the last three months there have been 14 days worth of LID's referred. I don't know if we will see 10 days this month or not but, I will not give up hope of a speed up at some point. I know we will get our baby and that one day this will be a distant memory like the labor pains of child birth.

hang on for the ride

Wacky Wednesday (What Kind of Women's Shoe are you)?

You are Barefoot!

You're a total free spirit, go with the flow girl
You can't be restricted by shoes for very long
And unsuprisingly, the same goes for men
Your match is out there - and he's as carefree as you are

I wanted to share with all of you the most amazing talent. Paul Potts is the winner ofthe TV Show Britain's Got Talent. The show where American Idol got its roots. Paul Potts is or should I say was a cell phone salesman in Southern Wales until he recently won the top prize on Brittan's Got Talent. Paul Potts is a very shy unassuming man who left even brash Simon Cowell speechless.

Please watch and enjoy, Oh and grab some tissues you will need them.

I need your help

I want to start a book club blog to link to this blog. What I need from you are ideas for names. What I thought I would do is take suggestions for the next three days and then set up a poll to vote on the Book Club name. So leave comments with your ideas it can be as simple as one word like Dumplings Book Club or something more involved I want all the ideas.

The book club details still need to be worked out. This all came about because of my last post about what I was reading if you go to the comments section you will see we are all on the same page these days.

OK so lets hear it what are your ideas.

Thanks in advance

What are you reading?

I am currently reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See

It is a story set in Nineteenth-century Hunan China. It is a story of a young girl named Lily and her Laotong, or "Old Same". The two girls communicate in a secret language called NuShu. They share their Hopes and Dreams for their future through this secret language. They share their fears, tragedies and trials of life in rural China.

it is a great book and one I would recommend highly.

So what are you reading this summer?

Charles Schultz Philosophy

My Friend Cheri sent me this in a forward this morning and I love it. I wanted to share it with all of you. Cheri did not know that one of mine and Riz's favorite cartoons in the Peanuts. We both think Charles Schultz was a great man with a brilliant mind. His cartoon is timeless and appealing to people of all ages. I know every year during the holiday season I can't wait to watch "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Is there anyone out there in their 30's or 40's who does not remember those classics from Childhood? It is already in Sophia's video library. I look forward to the day it become a tradition in our house to watch them together as a family. I think a lot can be learned about compassion and tolerance from Chuck and his friends.

Click on the link below and enjoy. :)

To Go or not to Go?

I asked a question this morning to my DTC and Agency groups. I wanted to get a feel for how people think and feel about this topic. We were talking with other families about weather they did or did not have the opportunity to visit the orphanage their daughters were from. Some of the families did have the opportunity to visit and some did not. This raised the question to us IF we have the opportunity to go and visit Sophia's orphanage would we want to go? Would others in our group want to go? If so why or why not? How often does this opportunity arise? We listened to everyone's arguments one way or the other. We talked a lot about it and decided that for us we would want to go visit the orphanage that Sophia had spent her first months possibly longer in. We would want to thank the nannies who cared for her while we were unable to. We would want to thank the director for giving us the opportunity. We want to be able to answer Sophia's questions, should she have them one day about where she was before she came home to us. Now all that being said we know the reality is that most times this opportunity does not arise. We know that the REALITY of the orphanages is probably much different then what we have created in our minds. That is precisely why we would not want to pass up this opportunity. Our question to everyone who has BTDT or who is a waiting family is this, What are your feelings about this? Would/Did you go if given the opportunity? Thanks in advance for your input Susan and Riz

Fathers day

The Story of Father's Day

Father's Day, contrary to popular misconception, was not established as a holiday in order to help greeting card manufacturers sell more cards. In fact when a "father's day" was first proposed there were no Father's Day cards!
Mrs. John B. Dodd, of Washington, first proposed the idea of a "father's day" in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. William Smart, a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife (Mrs. Dodd's mother) died in childbirth with their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state. It was after Mrs. Dodd became an adult that she realized the strength and selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent.

The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane Washington. At about the same time in various towns and cities across American other people were beginning to celebrate a "father's day." In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a national Father's Day. Finally in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day.
Father's Day has become a day to not only honor your father, but all men who act as a father figure. Stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, and adult male friends are all honored on Father's Day.

I just want to honor my father who is no longer with us and who I miss dearly, My father in-law for always being there for us, to all our friends who are fathers for being such GREAT examples for us,

But most of all to my loving husband who I adore. Happy Fathers Day to you. Even though Sophia is not physically here with us this year, I know that you are already her Daddy. Riz you are going to be the best daddy, I can't wait to see you in action.

I love you ( and I know Sophia will too)

Overwhelming! to say the least

I have to share this amazing website with all of you. My friend and travel mate Susan Love sent it to me with a message that she became very emotional while viewing the photos. I too became emotional while looking at them because I realized that these photos were taken in late May 2007 (this year!). That means that our Sophia and the Love's Lily Kate could be amongst those babies in the photos. I know that many of you who will read this are also waiting parents in the Dec and Jan LID groups and from Zhouskids (our agency group) those are our children in the pictures can you believe it???? It is just overwhelming to me to know that because of these wonderful people my baby and yours will be drinking formula bottles made with CLEAN drinking water. Clean water is something we as Americans take for granted everyday. It is eye opening to know that our babies have not had the luxury of clean drinking water... Until now .... I personally want to say thank you to this group of wonderful people.

Click on the link above then click on the box to the right that is labeled China 2007. You can scroll through the pictures by clicking the plus sign. There are captions for each picture at the top of each page.

Love Susan

Cheri thanks for all the advice on the color choices and for sending me all the cool sites to choose stuff from.

OK now we (Cheri and I) have decided to give "birth" at the same time and we will be sending out birth announcements latter today (LOL). We are finally ready to go public with our blogs.

I will continue to post messages and information on my website ( until after we come home from China. I plan on keeping both updated until after our trip to China. Our website will all be burned to a CD for a keepsake so I want to make sure that I capture everything on there for Sophia. When we return from China I will be posting primarily here on the blog. My plan for the blog is to capture our journey to Sophia and her story after she becomes our daughter.

Thanks for being interested enough to share in our story..
