YARD SALE

I am not sure that spending most of last weekend and every night this week after work lugging stuff down from the attic and out of the shed preparing for a yard sale, then all day today bargaining with total strangers for stuff I would have donated to Good Will was worth $175. What is with people not wanting to bend over to look at something? I have to say that it really bugs me when you have something marked $1 or 50 cents and someone asks you if you will take less... WHAT? I don't get it really I don't.. Riz was very proud of the fact that he sold 9 Rocks for a dollar a piece. This was probably the best sale of the day. Last year while we were in the North Carolina Mountains we collected a bunch of River Rocks. We had good intentions of doing something with them but they have been sitting on our front porch in the same spot since we took the out of the car after that trip. We probably could have sold those rocks 10 times over. 4 or 5 people asked us "how much for the rocks?" we both laughed and said they aren't For Sale. Then we thought why not? Riz said put $1 on them, so I did and not 1 minute later all nine rocks were gone.... WOW! Who knew.....So everything we did not sell we loaded in the car and took to Good Will. We were just going to put the money we earned into the baby account but Riz suggested that we buy something we still need for Sophia. So we are going to buy one of these

It is called a Baby Hawk Baby Carrier. There are so many beautiful fabrics to chose from and you can totally customize it. I have two friends (Layla and Amy) that have used them and they both love them. Layla even demonstrated for us how easy they are to get on and off without any help. Check out the Baby Hawk Site here I have chosen Fiesta Pinwheels and Carnival fabrics with the dark pink straps. I chose to add the pockets and a toy ring. This is a little expensive but great for bonding and attachment. I know I can't go wrong taking the advice of Layla and Amy....Plus this money was all from stuff we would have taken to Good Will so we don't feel guilty about spending it on this.......... So maybe it was worth it after all.....

Whoo hoo! I LOVE the Baby Hawk! I checked out the Fiesta Pinwheel and Carnival fabrics and they are beautiful- good choice. Now I am regretting that I didn't get the pockets and toy ring! I think it will be great for Sophia. I saw all the pictures of Shane and Cheri carrying Hope around China and thought that they really could have used a carrier for her. But I'm sure they were too thrilled to care. Anyway, I can't wait to see Riz rockin' the Baby Hawk:)

Too funny about the rocks! It reminds me of a garage sale I had and for some reason I had a picture of Pope John Paul II, unframed. I worked my butt off trying to sell that picture, offering it as a bonus to whoever bought whatwver another awful item I was pushing..."Free picture of Pope JP2 for whoever buys the 1980's American Tourister luggage"!! LOL! I'm sure there's a special place in heaven for me for that one!

Yay! I love my Baby Hawk too! I got the pocket and let me tell you how helpful that thing was. Just think...Lottie's nose...It was so useful to be able to grab a tissue easily from the pocket and I needed those tissues for what seemed like forever too. I ordered the toy ring and they forgot to attach one. They were great about giving me the choice of sending it back to add it or send a refund. Very good customer service. Don't forget, I put Benjamin in it after it arrived. While I wouldn't want to carry him for long in one, I could for a short while. He he!
Good for you buying something for the headache you got this weekend! You deserve something special...esp a special Sophia asap!
Love to you both, Aim

I have been thinking of having another yard sale myself, but it always ends up being alot of work for not much payoff. Other people tell me how much they made and it blows me away. The most I have ever made is a couple hundred dollars.

At one yard sale, we had some old bathroom fixtures at the curb that we were throwing away and some guy asked how much? We made $25 bucks and he hauled our trash away - it was awesome!

Love the Baby Hawk!

I know this WON'T suprise you in the least. But...

I know I'd be the one buying the rocks. I've been looking for smooth, dark river rocks for months here and haven't found any. I just figured I'm gonna have to lift them from the river. So, yeah, I'd definately pay a dollar for each of the rocks. It just sounds so funny that people would do that though. Great story. ha. ha.
